Home Minister Aryal directs agencies to address Gen-Z concerns and improve service delivery
Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal has instructed agencies under the ministry to work in alignment with the aspirations of the new generation and to ensure that they experience a sense of justice. Speaking at the regular SMT meeting held on Sunday under the chairmanship of Home Secretary Rameshwar Dangal, Minister Aryal urged all employees to carry out their responsibilities with the dedication of an activist. He also directed them to remain fully focused on the upcoming election and its preparations.
TU International Cricket Ground handed over to CAN after installation of parapet and floodlights
The government has handed over the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur to the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) after completing the installation of parapets and floodlights. The Federal Secretariat Construction and Management Office under the Ministry of Urban Development handed over the facilities built under the first phase, including the newly installed floodlights and parapet.
Home Minister Aryal directs to ensure security situation in NPL
Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal on Sunday took stock of the security provisions and the final preparations for the Second Edition of Nepal Premier League (NPL), which is beginning on Monday. Minister Aryal and Chief District Officer of Kathmandu Ishwar Raj Paudel took information from the Chief of Kathmandu Police Ramesh Thapa about the security systems arranged for the NPL.
Election Commission releases schedule for the March 5 election
The Election Commission has published the official schedule for the House of Representatives election set for March 5. According to the commission, the timeline for both the First-Past-The-Post (FPTP) system and the Proportional Representation (PR) system has been published on its website and in the Nepal Gazette.
Inflation falls by more than half compared to last year
Data from Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) indicates that inflation in Nepal has fallen by more than half in Asoj (mid-September to mid-October) of the current fiscal year compared to the same month last year. According to the central bank’s report on the country’s current economic and financial situation, annual consumer inflation stood at 1.47 percent in the period of the current fiscal year, down from 4.28 percent in the same period of the previous fiscal year.
Rara and Phoksundo lakes to be linked by road
Upgrading work has begun to connect Tripurakot Municipality-1 in Dolpa to Maure in Jumla, with a budget exceeding Rs 250 million. The road linking Jumla from Triveni in Aathbiskot Municipality-6 of Rukum Paschim has already been constructed, prompting the initiation of an alternative route to connect Jumla as well. Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Urban Development Sher Bahadur Budha stated that Rs 250.988 million has been allocated for the Tripurakot–Maure road upgrade, which has commenced under a contractual agreement. Once completed, the road will facilitate easier travel for locals and tourists, while linking the renowned Rara and Phoksundo Lakes by land.
Inflation stays low at 1.47% as trade surges
Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), the country’s central bank, has released its assessment of Nepal’s macroeconomic and financial conditions based on data from the first three months of fiscal year 2025/26. According to the report, year-on-year inflation remained low at 1.47 percent. Gross foreign exchange reserves stood at USD 2,979.81 billion. Total merchandise imports and exports rose by 19.8 percent and 89.6 percent, respectively. The NEPSE index reached 2,487.17 in mid-October 2025, down from 2,742.88 in mid-October 2024.
Nepal, India agree to strengthen border security cooperation
The Armed Police Force (APF) of Nepal and India’s Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) have agreed to enhance coordination and cooperation to make joint border patrols and border security more effective. The ninth bilateral coordination meeting, held in New Delhi recently, was attended by the Nepali delegation led by APF Inspector General Raju Aryal and the Indian delegation led by SSB Director General Sanjay Singhal.
Nepal receives USD 9.4 million from World Bank’s FCPF
Nepal has received USD 9.4 million (Rs 1.19 billion) from the World Bank’s Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF) for reducing approximately 1.88 million tons of carbon dioxide under its REDD+ Emission Reductions Program in the Terai Arc Landscape. This marks the first payment under the FCPF’s Emission Reductions Payment Agreement (ERPA), a major milestone in Nepal’s efforts to curb deforestation and forest degradation while promoting inclusive, sustainable forest management, the World Bank said in a press release.
Gold and silver prices decrease in Nepali market today
Fluctuations in the international market have driven down the prices of gold and silver in Nepal, with both metals trading lower today than on Friday. According to the Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Federation, the price of gold has dropped by Rs 6,900. A tola of gold is now priced at Rs 242,800, compared to Rs 249,700 last Friday. Silver has also fallen by Rs 150 per tola and is being traded at Rs 3,135 today, down from Rs 3,285 on Friday.
Self-examination essential, or history won’t forgive: Dr. Bhattarai
Former Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has said that Nepal is currently facing one of the most uncertain periods in its history, stressing that all stakeholders must engage in serious self-examination and move forward responsibly. Writing on Facebook, Bhattarai warned that “history will not forgive anyone” if individuals and institutions fail to reflect on their roles in the current situation.
CAN urges fans to watch NPL inaugural match from home
The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has urged fans to watch the inaugural match of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) from home, as all tickets for the opening game have been sold out. In a video message, CAN Secretary Parash Khadka said, “All tickets have been sold, and as the first day is always crowded, we humbly request everyone who has not secured a ticket to watch the match from home and support us.”
Postal Road becoming alternative to East–West Highway
The Postal Road under construction in Banke has increasingly begun serving as an easier alternative route to the East–West Highway. Traffic along the section connecting Kundachowk in Rapti Sonari Rural Municipality–6 to Agaiya has risen significantly. Passengers traveling between Nepalgunj and Dang, in particular, have started giving priority to this route. According to Jun Bahadur Thapa, President of the Bheri Bus Entrepreneurs Association in Nepalgunj, the postal road offers a shorter travel distance compared to the Nepalgunj–Agaiya route via Kohalpur.
Govt asks local levels to report damage from Gen-Z movement
The government has instructed all rural municipalities and municipalities to provide details of damage caused during the recent Gen-Z movement on September 8 and 9. The Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration has written to all 753 local levels across the country, requesting them to submit damage reports through an online portal. \In a letter, the Ministry outlined guidelines for entering details of damages to public property, physical structures, and private establishments, which will be used for reconstruction and repair works.
