Prachanda says socialist alliance unity in final stage



KATHMANDU: Maoist Centre Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that the parties within the Socialist Front are close to unification.

Speaking at a party gathering in Kathmandu on Thursday, Dahal said that the process of unifying the parties under the Socialist Front had reached its final stage. “This time, we will begin the unification of leftist forces through the Socialist Front,” Dahal said, adding that the move aims to consolidate all leftist forces under one banner.

He expressed confidence that the planned unification would mark the beginning of political polarisation among major forces, leading to the accumulation of socialist strength and paving the way for a socialist revolution.

“The unity process will go up to the UML,” Dahal said, hinting that the broader left alliance could eventually include the CPN-UML.

Referring to the recent youth-led Gen-Z movement, Dahal said the wave of activism seen on social media represented “a new kind of political consciousness,” which aligns with many of the issues historically championed by the Maoist movement.
