Prachanda visits Maoist Center office destroyed in Gen-Z protests

KATHMANDU: Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Chair of the CPN-Maoist Center, visited the party’s central office in Parisdanda, which was destroyed during the Gen-Z protests on September 8 and 9.

The office building had been set ablaze during the demonstrations, marking the first time Dahal publicly appeared since the incident. He assured party members that a new, grand central office would be constructed with the help of party cadres nationwide.

After inspecting the site, Dahal said, “With the support of our cadres and members across the country, a new and magnificent party headquarters will be built.” He did not specify the location of the new office.

Dahal also confirmed that some party materials, including meeting minutes, library books, and a few computers, were salvaged from the damaged office. He thanked the staff and party members who played a role in protecting these items.

In addition to the central office, Dahal’s residence in Khumaltar was also torched during the protests, though the property belongs to builder Sharada Prasad Adhikari. Similarly, a newly constructed residence in Chitwan was destroyed under the pretext of Gen-Z agitation.
