PM Karki seeks support; Dr. Ruit declines ministerial role

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister (PM) Sushila Karki has held discussions with renowned ophthalmologist Dr. Sanduk Ruit, seeking his support for the government.

During a visit to the Tilganga Eye Hospital in Kathmandu on Tuesday, Prime Minister Karki invited Dr. Ruit to join the government under her leadership, citing the special circumstances surrounding her tenure.

However, in response, Dr. Ruit expressed his willingness to support the government but made it clear that he would not accept a ministerial position.

“I will support the government, but I cannot be a part of it,” Dr. Ruit reportedly told the Prime Minister.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Dr. Ruit said he could not leave his hospital responsibilities and patients to join the government.
