Nepalis spend Rs 14.31 billion on foreign education in first month of FY 2025/26



KATHMANDU: In the first month of the current fiscal year, Nepalis spent Rs 14.31 billion for overseas education.

According to data released Monday by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), educational expenditure abroad saw a slight decline compared to the same period last year, when Rs 14.96 billion was spent.

Within the service account, travel expenditure fell by 2.8 percent to Rs 21.70 billion during the review period, down from Rs 22.32 billion in the same month of the previous fiscal year.

Meanwhile, net service income remained in deficit at Rs 13.39 billion, slightly improved from Rs 15.06 billion during the same period last year.

Travel-related income, however, increased by 12.7 percent to Rs 5.38 billion, compared to Rs 4.77 billion in the corresponding month of the previous fiscal year.
