NC and UML lawmakers missing in House meeting

KATHMANDU: The ongoing discussion on the national budget, presented by Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel in the House of Representatives, continues despite obstruction from Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmakers.

The ruling coalition has pushed ahead with the debate regardless of the opposition’s protest. However, the scene inside the House on Monday painted a grim picture — a largely empty chamber.

Finance Minister Paudel was seen delivering his speech alone, with rows of empty chairs around him, raising serious questions about the ruling parties’ commitment to parliamentary proceedings.

The absence of lawmakers, including those from Nepali Congress and CPN-UML, turned the session into what some described as a farcical display — with the Finance Minister addressing vacant seats once again.
