Speaker holding talks with chief whips to end parliament obstruction



KATHMANDU: Speaker Devraj Ghimire is currently engaged in discussions with the chief whips of political parties in an effort to resolve the ongoing obstruction of the House of Representatives, part of the Federal Parliament.

The Speaker is holding talks with chief whips from both ruling and opposition parties at the Federal Parliament building in Naya Baneshwor.

Participating in the discussion are the chief whip of the ruling Nepali Congress, Shyam Kumar Ghimire, and the chief whip of CPN-UML, Mahesh Bartaula.

From the opposition, the chief whip of CPN (Maoist Centre), Hitraj Pandey, the chief whip of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Santosh Pariyar, and the chief whip of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), Gyanendra Shahi, are also present. Deputy Speaker Indira Rana is also attending the meeting.kh

Earlier this morning, Speaker Ghimire had also discussed the parliamentary stalemate with RSP’s acting chairperson, D.P. Aryal, and chief whip Santosh Pariyar at Baluwatar.
