PM Karki: Young generation wants accountable and corruption-free governance
Prime Minister Sushila Karki has attended the celebration marking the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Australia on Saturday. Communication Minister Kharel says environment ready for March 5 elections
Minister for Communication and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel has said that the environment for the elections scheduled for March 5, 2026, has already been created. Speaking at an interaction organized by the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) South Korea chapter on Friday, Minister Kharel, who is currently on an official visit to South Korea—reiterated that the polls will be held on the announced date.
Hong Kong removes transit visa requirement for Nepali passport holders
The Hong Kong government has scrapped the mandatory transit visa requirement for Nepali passport holders traveling through Hong Kong International Airport. According to the Consulate General of Nepal in Hong Kong, the new provision—applicable to travelers remaining inside the airport’s transit area—has come into effect from Saturday, November 15, 2025. In a press release issued Friday, the Consulate General said the decision follows continuous diplomatic efforts and formal requests made to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) of China.
UML holds mass gatherings across all 77 districts
The CPN-UML on Saturday has organised mass demonstrations and public gatherings across all 77 districts. According to Rajendra Gautam, head of the party’s Publicity and Publication Department, the district-level gatherings were held under the party’s third-phase programme, with central and senior leaders addressing events in various locations.
16th international conference on orthodontics concludes in Dharan
The 16th International Conference on Orthodontics was held in Dharan. The event was jointly organized by the Orthodontic and Dentofacial Orthopedic Association of Nepal (ODAN) and the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences. The conference began on last Friday coincided today. This year, the event was significant as it attracted 11 Indian and 90 Nepali doctors, noted Dr. Prabhat Ranjan Pokhrel, chair of the organizing committee.

Narayanghat–Butwal road expansion underway only at night
The road expansion work along the Narayanghat–Butwal section of the East–West Highway is currently being carried out only during nighttime in Gaindakot. The remaining 170 meters of road, extending westward from the Narayani River bridge, still needs to be connected with the blacktopped section, prompting authorities to continue work at night.
Preparations complete for second edition of Nepal Premier League
The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has announced that all preparations for the second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) have been completed. The franchise T20 tournament is set to begin on November 17. Speaking at a press conference on Friday, CAN officials said this year’s edition will be played under floodlights for the first time. CAN Secretary Paras Khadka said the decision was taken to make the event grander and more spectacular than the inaugural edition.
Govt opens sale of two savings bonds worth Rs 3 billion
The Public Debt Management Office (PDMO) has opened the sale of two savings bonds worth a total of Rs 3 billion to raise government funds. The office is issuing ‘Citizen Savings Bond–2087’ worth Rs 2.50 billion and ‘Foreign Employment Savings Bond–2087’ worth Rs 500 million.
KMC partners with Nepal Telecom to boost safety, expand smart surveillance network
The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has initiated a partnership with Nepal Telecom to operate the network required for installing CCTV cameras across the city’s jurisdiction. KMC Administration Department head Dhruba Kumar Kafle said the collaboration aims to use Nepal Telecom’s optical fiber and FTTH (Fiber to the Home) services to provide internet connectivity for CCTV networks in all ward offices.
China pledges full support for Nepal’s 2026 general election
China has expressed its commitment to provide every possible support to the Government of Nepal for the successful conduct of the general elections scheduled for March 5, 2026. Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song, during an interaction with editors and senior journalists on Friday evening, said China is working in close coordination with the incumbent interim government, which carries the mandate of holding the elections.
Human–elephant conflict rising as traditional cross-border routes disappear
The open border between Nepal and India is not only used by people of both countries but also serves as a crucial corridor for wildlife migrating between protected areas on either side. The forests of Nepal’s Tarai are directly connected to India’s jungle belts, enabling frequent movement of wild animals, including elephants. One of the most important routes lies between Bardiya National Park in western Nepal and the Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary in Uttar Pradesh, India, an established traditional migration path for wild elephants for decades.
Four Chinese nationals arrested in Kathmandu for running illegal marriage bureau targeting Nepali women
Four Chinese nationals have been arrested in Kathmandu on charges of illegally operating a marriage bureau and luring Nepali women into cross-border marriages under suspicious circumstances. According to the Department of Immigration, a team deployed on the basis of a special tip-off detained the four, one woman and three men, from Sorhakhutte on Friday evening. The group had been living in Nepal on business visas.
