UML holds mass gatherings across all 77 districts



KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML on Saturday has organised mass demonstrations and public gatherings across all 77 districts.

According to Rajendra Gautam, head of the party’s Publicity and Publication Department, the district-level gatherings were held under the party’s third-phase programme, with central and senior leaders addressing events in various locations.

General Secretary Shankar Pokharel addressed the gathering in Nepalgunj, while Deputy General Secretaries Pradeep Gyawali and Prithvi Subba Gurung spoke at events in Gulmi and Lamjung respectively.

Similarly, Secretary Chhabilal Bishwakarma addressed the programme in Rupandehi, Secretary Padma Aryal spoke in Birtamode, Jhapa, and Secretary Lekhraj Bhatt addressed supporters in Dhangadhi, Kailali.

Gautam said the demonstrations focused on demands including an impartial investigation into the incidents during the ‘Gen-Z’ protests on September 8 and 9, action against those involved in vandalism and arson, and the reinstatement of the House of Representatives.

He added that the gatherings were also organised to brief party cadres on recent political developments and UML’s future course.

Earlier, the party had held ward-level meetings in all wards on November  8 and municipal-level meetings in all 753 municipalities on November 11.
