KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has initiated a partnership with Nepal Telecom to operate the network required for installing CCTV cameras across the city’s jurisdiction.
KMC Administration Department head Dhruba Kumar Kafle said the collaboration aims to use Nepal Telecom’s optical fiber and FTTH (Fiber to the Home) services to provide internet connectivity for CCTV networks in all ward offices.
An agreement between KMC and Nepal Telecom ensures that CCTV footage from different locations will be delivered to monitoring rooms in real time.
Under the pact, Nepal Telecom will handle routine maintenance, repair of accidental damage, technical support, service expansion, emergency service continuity infrastructure, network monitoring, and timely resolution of service disruptions.
KMC, on the other hand, will supply all necessary equipment, including CCTV cameras and routers.
Telecom will also ensure high-speed bandwidth as required in the future while continuously updating its technology to match evolving needs.
Kafle stated that the initiative is being taken to enhance intergovernmental coordination and make Kathmandu safer and smarter through the effective use of technology.
