German Ambassador pays courtesy call on Minister Ghising



KATHMANDU: German Ambassador to Nepal, Udo Eugen Volz, paid a courtesy call on Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Kulman Ghising today.

In the meeting held in the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation at Singha Durbar, Ambassador Volz congratulated Minister Ghising and wished him a successful tenure.

During the meeting, the two discussed Nepal-Germany cooperation and deliberated on various ongoing projects being run in Nepal in the financial assistance of Germany, including solar power project and the Lekhnath-Damauli 220 KV transmission line.

Their talk also touched on expanding assistance in Nepal’s energy transformation.

Similarly, Minister Ghising acknowledged Germany’s enduring support to Nepal and urged to consider increasing the assistance.

He said the Madhya-Marsyangdi and Marsyangdi hydro power projects built with the support of Germany were ‘life-line’ to Nepal’s energy sector.

Emphasizing the importance of completion of the Pokhara-Butwal-Bharatpur triangle project to be executed by 2029 in assistance of Germany and the European Union for energy sector, he called for extended cooperation in expanding electricity use in electric vehicles and domestic consumption in those three areas.

He also sought German support in conducting feasibility study for trolley buses and building charging stations in the areas connecting these three cities.
The Minister also urged technical and expertise support for reconstruction the public infrastructures damaged in arson incidents during the recent Gen-Z movement.

In reciprocation, the German ambassador Volz informed that a German team will visit Nepal in December to identify the areas where Germany would provide assistance to Nepal for the next two years and consult on a review of the assistance.
