Oli criticizes party leaders for failing to support him

KATHMANDU: UML Chair KP Sharma Oli on Wednesday raised concerns over what he described as deteriorating conduct among his own party leaders, asserting that he himself remains steadfast despite internal criticism.

Speaking at the three-day Central Committee meeting that began Wednesday, Oli questioned why some leaders within the party had urged him to be more disciplined while failing to uphold the party’s interests.

“If KP Oli was at fault, then perhaps that request would make sense. But those who ignore party priorities and jump to the opposition’s narratives are the ones who should reconsider their stance,” he said.

Oli also alleged that party leaders have failed to support him during difficult times, leaving him vulnerable to political attacks.

He criticized the current government, describing it as illegitimate and formed through regressive political maneuvers. “An election cannot be held under a government born from regression. The current administration itself has undermined the environment necessary for free and fair elections,” Oli added.

The meeting, ongoing in Lalitpur’s Ram Bagh Mahal, is expected to discuss the party’s strategy, organizational reforms, and upcoming political maneuvers in light of the recent political unrest following the Jen-ji movement.
