National Assembly Chair Dahal meets President Paudel ahead of IPU Assembly

KATHMANDU: National Assembly Chair Narayan Prasad Dahal met with President Ramchandra Paudel at the President’s Office in Sheetal Niwas on Monday to brief him about Nepal’s participation in the upcoming 151st Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly.

According to Dahal’s secretariat, the National Assembly chair informed the President that Nepal’s federal parliament will be represented at the IPU Assembly to be held in Geneva, Switzerland, from October 19 to 23.

The global parliamentary forum brings together lawmakers from 181 member countries, making it one of the world’s largest multilateral platforms for inter-parliamentary dialogue.

A delegation led by Chair Dahal will represent Nepal in the assembly, where discussions are expected to focus on strengthening democratic governance, peace, and sustainable development.

Before meeting the President, Dahal had also called on Prime Minister Sushila Karki on Sunday to discuss Nepal’s participation in the Geneva gathering, as well as other current political and parliamentary matters, including the upcoming National Assembly elections scheduled for January.

During his meeting with the President, Dahal also briefed him on preparations for the National Assembly elections and other parliamentary affairs, according to his office.
