Sher Bahadur Deuba’s health showing improvement after assault

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba is reportedly recovering well after sustaining injuries during a violent attack amid the Gen-Z protests. Deuba is receiving treatment at a hospital in Kathmandu.

Concern for his health has been widespread among party leaders and supporters. Min Bishwakarma, head of the party’s Information, Communication, and Publicity Department, confirmed that Deuba’s condition is improving.

“The president is currently recovering quickly. He can speak and eat,” Bishwakarma told reporters. “He is out of critical danger, and we are optimistic about his full recovery soon.”

Bishwakarma said Deuba suffered a head injury during the attack, which was visible in videos circulating on social media showing blood flowing from his head. “He had a wound at the back of his head, which caused some initial concern. He also has minor injuries on other parts of his body,” he added.

Former Foreign Minister and Central Committee member Dr. Arju Rana, who was also injured in the incident, is reported to be recovering as well. “She has minor injuries and his condition is improving,” Bishwakarma said.

The Nepali Congress has kept the name of the hospital where the Deuba couple is being treated confidential. “We have decided not to disclose the hospital to prevent unnecessary crowding or interference, which could create complications,” Bishwakarma said.
