Engineers’ association to offer free technical assistance for reconstruction

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Engineers’ Association (NEA), the umbrella organization of the country’s engineers, has announced that it will provide free technical assistance for damage assessment and reconstruction following the destruction caused during the Gen-Z protests.

In a press statement, NEA General Secretary Binod Prakash Pandit said the association’s members would contribute their expertise without charge to support both the evaluation of damaged infrastructure and subsequent rebuilding efforts.

“The hard work, labor, and expertise of Nepal’s technical human resources played a crucial role in the reconstruction of physical structures damaged in the earthquakes of 1990 BS and 2072 BS. The Association wishes to continue this support in the days ahead,” Pandit stated.

On Sunday, NEA launched preliminary assessments of key institutions, including the Supreme Court, Kathmandu District Court, and Nepal Bar Association buildings.

NEA President Subash Chandra Baral said the assessments would cover on-site inspections, risk evaluation, alternative management planning, and feasibility studies to ensure sustainable reconstruction.
