Deputy PM Singh defends coalition with UML, calls for unity

PALPA: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development Prakash Man Singh has defended the coalition government between the Nepali Congress and the UML, stating that it was formed out of necessity to save the country from crisis.

Speaking at a press meet organized by the Palpa branch of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Singh said that the alliance was the result of the prevailing situation when economic development and other nation-building activities had come to a standstill.

He asserted that the Nepali Congress has always taken the lead in times of crisis and emphasized that the coalition with UML was essential to steer the nation out of its challenges. Singh urged political leaders to focus on delivering results, saying that people expect action rather than words.

“It is time to talk less and work more,” he said.

Addressing a separate issue, Deputy Prime Minister Singh clarified that the government has no intention of adding facilities to former special statuses.

He dismissed growing monarchist sentiments, reiterating that there is no justification for discussing the monarchy at this point. He called for unity among all political parties to strengthen the federal democratic republican system, emphasizing that collaboration is crucial for maintaining stability and progress.
