Prachanda urges govt to address teachers’ demands immediately

KATHMANDU: Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has urged the government to promptly address the demands of agitating teachers.

During a meeting with a delegation from the Nepal Teachers’ Federation, which has been demanding the immediate passage of the School Education Bill, Dahal said the teachers’ legitimate concerns should not be ignored.

He stated that despite the various amendments registered, many are of a similar nature, and even with the formation of a subcommittee, the bill should move forward without delay.

“The main issue is willpower. The government should prioritize education and teacher issues,” he said, stressing the urgency of passing the bill.

He also highlighted the lack of a unified stance on the demands of teachers and the broader education sector, urging the government to take education seriously as it is the foundation of the country’s prosperity, according to his personal secretariat.
