KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane was released on bail of Rs 6 million by the Kathmandu District Court on Wednesday evening.

The bail was secured after Prabhu Bank provided a guarantee for the required amount, as mandated by District Court Judge Madhav Prasad Adhikari.

Had Lamichhane failed to provide the bail or a bank guarantee, he would have been sent to jail for at least a day.

Lamichhane left the court premises in a happy mood after Prabhu Bank agreed to guarantee the bail amount, promising to pay if Lamichhane was unable to do so.

This decision was made after discussions between the Kathmandu District Court, Lamichhane, and the bank. Prabhu Bank will now recover the bail amount from Lamichhane.

Earlier, Lamichhane had been released on bail of Rs 6.5 million by the District Court in Kaski last Thursday in connection with the Suryadarshan Cooperative fraud case in Pokhara.

After the Kaski District Court’s ruling, Lamichhane appeared before the Kathmandu District Court on Sunday, where he presented a bank guarantee for the earlier bail amount.
