KATHMANDU: Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal Chairman Upendra Yadav has announced the formation of a new ‘loose alliance’ aimed at uniting smaller parties across Nepal, with a particular focus on those in the Tarai/Madhesh region.

Speaking to Khabarhub on Tuesday evening, Yadav expressed confidence that this alliance would transcend regional boundaries and bring together parties from across the nation.

Yadav said the alliance’s goal is to address pressing national issues and push for constitutional amendments.

“In the past, Tarai/Madhesh-centric parties have operated at the mercy of larger parties. This alliance is a step towards uniting on national issues and moving to the forefront,” he said.

According to Yadav, while there is no immediate plan for party mergers, the alliance seeks to foster cooperation on shared concerns.

Discussions on constitutional amendments and other national priorities will be central to the alliance’s agenda.

He also said the alliance is open to participation from parties beyond those traditionally focused on the Tarai/Madhesh.

“This initiative is inclusive. Not only Madhesh-centric parties but other parties from across Nepal can join,” he said, noting that preliminary discussions with various leaders, including Resham Chaudhary, have been promising.

While the alliance has been established, Yadav revealed that its full objectives and priorities will be determined in upcoming discussions among party leaders.

He expressed optimism that all involved parties would soon convene to chart a unified path forward.
