Contracts will be cancelled if work remains unfinished: Minister Ghising

TANAHUN: Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Kulman Ghising has warned that development projects left incomplete will result in the cancellation of contracts.

Speaking at a discussion program in Shuklagandaki Municipality in Tanahun on Sunday, Minister Ghising emphasized that delays in development work will not be tolerated. “If construction entrepreneurs fail to work on infrastructure projects, contracts will be terminated immediately and a new process initiated,” he stated.

He added that provincial government projects are also facing stagnation and stressed the need for coordination with provincial authorities to break old contracts and resume progress.

“New bridges and roads need to be constructed, and existing roads repaired. I am committed to discussing the development concerns raised by locals in Kathmandu with the relevant authorities,” Ghising said.

Regarding the Tanahun Hydropower Project, he highlighted its significant economic potential. Fully owned by the Electricity Authority, the project offers opportunities for locals to hold shares. “Resources are secured, and we will explore ways to increase local ownership,” he added.
