Govt approves Rs 5 billion budget for HoR elections



KATHMANDU: The government has approved a budget of Rs 5 billion for the House of Representatives (HoR) elections scheduled for March 5, 2026.

Election Commission spokesperson Narayan Bhattarai said that the Ministry of Finance has approved Rs 4.96 billion out of the Commission’s total request of Rs 7.5 billion.

“Resources have been ensured for the elections,” Bhattarai said adding that the government will provide additional funds if needed, noting that Rs 5 billion has been approved for now.
