Govt confirms 72 deaths in Gen-Z protests



KATHMANDU: The Government of Nepal has confirmed that 72 people lost their lives during the recent Gen Z-led protests.

Chief Secretary Eknarayan Aryal disclosed the figure during the swearing-in of newly appointed Prime Minister Sushila Karki.

Aryal also stated that 191 individuals are currently undergoing treatment at hospitals and medical centers across the country.

The casualties were reported from the events of September 8, during protest actions, and from incidents of arson and violence that followed on September 9.
