Couple die while electrofishing in Morang



MORANG: A couple lost their lives due to electric shock on Saturday while attempting to electrofish in the Madeli River at Sundarharaicha municipality-7 in Morang district.

The deceased have been identified as local residents, Purna Bahadur Limbu, 58, and his spouse Phulmaya Limbu, 52, according to Spokesperson of the District Police Office, DSP Kopila Chundal.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the incident occurred beneath the river bridge, where the couple was using electricity from a nearby electric pole to catch fish. Both died on the spot.

Their bodies have been sent to the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan for post-mortem examinations. Further investigations into the incident are underway.
