Curfew lifted in Birgunj

BIRGUNJ: The District Administration Office (DAO) of Parsa has lifted the curfew that was in effect across Birgunj Metropolitan City from midnight on Sunday.

Chief District Officer Ganesh Aryal stated that the decision to lift the curfew, effective from 12:00 a.m., was made after reviewing the overall law and order situation in Birgunj, which has gradually improved. The decision was also based on a consensus reached during an all-party meeting.

However, a prohibitory order remains in place starting April 14 and will continue until further notice.

The order bans all forms of public gatherings, meetings, rallies, and demonstrations.

Authorities have warned that anyone found violating the order will be taken into custody and legal action will be pursued.

The DAO had initially imposed the curfew from 6:30 p.m. on Saturday following a violent clash between two groups earlier that afternoon within the Birgunj metropolitan area.
