SINDHUPALCHOK: Chair of the main opposition, the CPN (Maoist Centre), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has claimed that the lifespan of the KP Sharma Oli-led government will be short.
Speaking at a press conference organized by Press Centre Sindhupalchok at Sunkoshi’s Sukute Beach on Tuesday, Dahal stated that the government was formed unnaturally and its actions are already shortening its tenure.
He asserted that the coalition government of the Nepali Congress and CPN-UM, is unstable, and there is no need for parties like the Maoist Centre to make efforts to bring it down.
“This government’s longevity is not something we wish for. However, it is unnatural and will fall on its own. I don’t think it has a long life. I cannot set a date, but the way this government is functioning, it is shortening its own term,” he remarked.
Dahal further claimed that dissatisfaction within the ruling Congress itself is growing, with even leaders from its establishment faction expressing discontent, making it difficult for the government to function smoothly.
He clarified that the Maoist Centre is not immediately planning to overthrow the government but is focused on strengthening its organization through grassroots campaigns.
“Our campaigns and local-level meetings have been well received by the public,” he added.
Dahal also mentioned that he feels more relaxed and comfortable now compared to his time as prime minister.
