“Preserve the traditions and cultures of all communities”



KATHMANDU: Chair of the CPN (Unified Socialist) Madhav Kumar Nepal has stated that the traditions and cultures of all ethnic groups and communities have played a vital role in uniting Nepalis culturally.

In his message of best wishes for Maghe Sankranti and Maghi festival, Chair Nepal emphasized the importance of unity in diversity in a country made up of different ethnicities and languages.

He noted that the Tharu community celebrates Maghi as their New Year and begins new economic transactions, while the Magar community and others observe Maghe Sankranti by bathing in holy rivers and worshipping at temples.

He expressed that the preservation of these unique cultures has established Nepal as a country renowned for unity in diversity.

Wishing good health, longevity, and peace to all Nepalis at home and abroad, Chair Nepal highlighted the need for the state to ensure equality in recognizing the identities of all ethnic groups and attire.

He also pointed out the tradition of enjoying delicacies such as laddus, ghee, chaku, tarul, and khichadi with family during this festival, which fosters joy and enthusiasm in all communities.

Chair Nepal stressed the importance of preserving diversity and called for collective efforts to protect the traditions and historical heritage of all communities.
