Learning from past mistakes, we are moving to build a unified party: Prachanda

KANKREBIHAR: Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party, said the party is moving forward to build a unified organization by learning from past mistakes.

Addressing a unity assembly in Birendranagar, he emphasized the need to make the party number one with enthusiastic participation from leaders and cadres. Prachanda expressed motivation from the support shown by people in Karnali.

He recalled that over 14 parties have merged, correcting past weaknesses, and that widespread participation in unity gatherings across the country has given the campaign new energy. Prachanda highlighted that discussions for party unity between him and Madhav Nepal began as early as 2041–42 BS, continuing even during the armed conflict, eventually leading to the 12-point agreement after consensus with the UML.

Prachanda also stressed the importance of developing Karnali, citing its rich culture, medicinal herbs, and water resources, and expressed commitment to create an environment encouraging young Nepalese abroad to return home.

Party co-coordinator Madhav Kumar Nepal said bringing different parties together for a united political effort has generated enthusiasm and will help establish the party as one working in the interest of the people and the country. He added, “At every crucial moment in the country, we have stood in the right place. Democracy and republic are essential to empower the people, and we are committed to establishing the Nepali Communist Party as a patriotic and independent force.”
