NPL: Sudurpaschim and Lumbini to face off for title

KATHMANDU: The highly anticipated final of the second season of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) will take place today at 3:30 pm at the TU International Cricket Stadium in Kirtipur, where Sudurpaschim Royals will face Lumbini Lions for the championship title.

Sudurpaschim booked their place in the final after a commanding 77-run victory over Biratnagar in the first qualifier. Lumbini secured the second spot by defeating Biratnagar by 40 runs in Qualifier 2.

Led by Dipendra Singh Aire, Sudurpaschim enter the final as strong contenders. After narrowly missing the title last season—losing the final to Janakpur Bolts by 5 wickets—they are determined to finish the job this year.

Lumbini, captained by Rohit Paudel, experienced an early exit in the league stage last season but have staged an impressive comeback. They are now aiming to lift their first-ever NPL trophy. In their league encounter earlier this season, Sudurpaschim defeated Lumbini by 7 wickets.

The NPL champions will receive Rs 11 million, while the runners-up will take home Rs 5.1 million. The third-placed team will earn Rs 2.5 million, and the fourth-placed team will receive Rs 1.5 million.

A total of eight teams participated in this year’s NPL, which is organized by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN).
