Nepal’s Health Minister holds courtesy meeting with UN agency representatives



KATHMANDU: Health and Population Minister Dr. Sudha Sharma held a joint courtesy meeting with representatives of various United Nations agencies supporting Nepal’s health sector.

During the meeting at the ministry, Minister Dr. Sharma expressed gratitude for the continuous cooperation of UN agencies in strengthening Nepal’s health system. She highlighted the government’s key priorities, including maternal health, child and adolescent health, mental health, regulation and improvement of medicine quality, expansion and reform of health insurance, strengthening the national medicine laboratory, and improving the procurement and supply chain of health materials.

UN representatives lauded the Nepal government’s efforts to improve the health sector and reaffirmed their commitment to continue supporting and collaborating in the days ahead.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Rajesh Sambhaji Rao Pandav from WHO Nepal, UNDP Resident Representative Kyoko Yokosuka, UNFPA Nepal Representative Sriram Haridass, UNICEF Nepal Representative Alice Akunga, WFP Nepal Country Director Riaz Lodhi, and FAO Nepal Representative Arun G.C.

The ministry stated that the meeting served as an opportunity to strengthen mutual cooperation, share experiences, and coordinate joint initiatives on health sector priorities.
