RSP’s Sumana Shrestha denies rumors of joining interim cabinet

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) leader Sumana Shrestha has dismissed widespread speculation that she is set to join the newly formed interim cabinet under Prime Minister Sushila Karki.

The rumors surfaced after Shrestha attended Karki’s swearing-in ceremony, prompting speculation on social media that she might abandon her party to accept a ministerial role.

Taking to Facebook Live on Saturday, Shrestha clarified that the claims were baseless. “Please don’t fall into any confusion. I am not joining the cabinet,” she said.

Shrestha said the focus should remain on supporting the Gen-Z movement, which she credited with driving the current political change. She argued that individuals like herself, who had already received opportunities to serve, should now take a back seat and help the new government succeed.

“The funerals of our young brothers and sisters are not yet over. This change has come through their sacrifice. Those of us who have already had the chance to work should not be dreaming of becoming ministers now,” she remarked.
