India PM Modi congratulates Sushila Karki, reaffirms support for Nepal’s progress

KATHMANDU: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reaffirmed India’s strong commitment to the peace, progress, and prosperity of the Nepali people.

In a message shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Modi extended his best wishes to Sushila Karki on her appointment as Prime Minister of Nepal’s interim government.

Karki was sworn in on Friday to lead the interim administration, which has been tasked with conducting general elections scheduled for March 5, 2026.

Formed in response to the recent Gen-Z protests, the interim cabinet has also decided to dissolve the House of Representatives, clearing the way for fresh parliamentary elections.
