Kailali CDO transferred to Home Ministry following prison clash

KATHMANDU: Kailali Chief District Officer (CDO) Gogan Bahadur Hamal has been transferred to the Ministry of Home Affairs after a recent clash among inmates at Kailali Prison raised concerns over lapses in security coordination.

Hamal will be replaced by Dang CDO Krishna Prasad Lamsal, while a new appointment for Dang has yet to be decided.

The clash, which took place last week, left one inmate dead and 47 others injured. Authorities said Hamal was removed from his post due to failure to implement timely security measures despite growing tensions among prisoners.
