RPP proposes committee led by Kalyan Shrestha or Sushila Karki to probe visa scam

KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has proposed forming a committee headed by either former Chief Justice Kalyan Shrestha or Sushila Karki to investigate the ongoing visit visa controversy.

During Wednesday’s session of the House of Representatives, RPP lawmaker Deepak Bahadur Singh, speaking within the time allotted by Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire, formally submitted the proposal for the commission.

Singh urged all parliamentarians to support the move, stating, “Let us form an investigation committee under Kalyan Shrestha or Sushila Karki. Anyone who has committed wrongdoing should be punished, and those who have not, there will be no impact even under any commission.”

He further announced that RPP will continue to boycott parliamentary proceedings until the judicial commission is formed. “If this cannot be established, we will continue our boycott without allowances,” he said.

Earlier, Speaker Ghimire allowed Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Ashok Kumar Chaudhary to speak. Chaudhary also reiterated that RSP would maintain its parliamentary boycott until either a parliamentary committee or judicial commission is constituted to probe the Visit Visa case.
