Govt awards Rs 500,000 to Rabindra Dhant

KATHMANDU: The government has announced a cash reward of Rs 500,000 for bantamweight champion Rabindra Dhant, who recently secured a historic victory at Matrix Fight Night (MFN) 17.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli shared the decision on Facebook on Wednesday, stating that the Cabinet had approved the amount as an incentive for Dhant. His coach will also receive Rs 200,000.

Congratulating Dhant once again, PM Oli praised him for becoming the first Nepali fighter to win an MFN title.

Dhant claimed the bantamweight championship last week by defeating Indian fighter Chungreng Koren.
