KC faction of Non-Resident Nepali Association gears up for 12th convention



KATHMANDU: The ‘Dr. Badri KC faction’ of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) has begun preparations for its 12th General Convention and Global Conference.

Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, the group stated that the executive committee, elected during the 11th international convention and led by Dr. KC, is functioning in accordance with the association’s statute.

According to the group, membership distribution is being carried out through the association’s Membership Information System (MIS), with 72,000 members already registered. KC shared that about 5,000 applications are still pending approval. Japan has contributed over 18,000 members, while more than 15,500 have registered from Australia. Membership drives are ongoing in various other countries.

KC mentioned that National Coordination Councils (NCCs) are currently holding national conventions, with 15 NCCs having completed their conventions so far. Remaining conventions are in progress, and he emphasized that, as per the statute, all national conventions must be completed by July 31.

The NCC conventions will determine the representatives for the 12th general convention. KC also noted that the preparations committee, election committee, election monitoring committee, and judicial committee have already been formed to facilitate the international convention.

With only three months remaining in the 2023–2025 term of the International Coordination Council, KC highlighted the group’s continued commitment to raising key issues since the association’s inception. The group reported spending over NPR 40 million on philanthropic and humanitarian efforts during the current term.

The NRNA also stated that it has actively worked for the rescue of migrant workers in crisis, social security, and the welfare of the Nepali diaspora.
