Israel confirms strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities as explosions rock Tehran

TEL AVIV: Israel has confirmed it launched attacks targeting nuclear sites within Iran, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), with multiple explosions reportedly heard across Tehran.

The operation, dubbed Operation Rising Lion, was announced by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who described Iran as a direct threat to Israel’s existence.

A state of emergency has been declared in Israel, with officials warning that retaliatory strikes from Iran could be imminent.

Iranian state television reported that residential areas in Tehran were struck, claiming that children were among the casualties, although these reports have not been independently confirmed.

Additionally, Iranian media have reported the death of Revolutionary Guard commander Hossein Salami in the strikes.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the United States did not participate in or assist with the military operation.

Countries around the world have begun responding, with Australia expressing deep concern over the rapidly escalating situation.
