HoR meeting taking place today

KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives (HoR) is set to convene at 1:00 p.m. today (Friday), following repeated delays and the eventual postponement of Thursday’s session due to continued obstruction by opposition parties.

Thursday’s meeting, initially scheduled for 3:00 p.m., was first pushed to 5:30 p.m. amid efforts by parties to resolve the ongoing deadlock. It was later rescheduled for 6:30 p.m.

However, as the session commenced, opposition lawmakers stood in protest. Despite repeated appeals from Speaker Devraj Ghimire to resume normal proceedings, the disruption persisted, leading to the adjournment of the meeting until Friday.

Opposition parties—including the Maoist Center, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), and Unified Socialist—have been blocking parliamentary sessions for the past two weeks.

They are demanding the resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak and the formation of a parliamentary committee to investigate the visit visa scam.
