Foreign Minister Rana in New Delhi, set to meet Indian counterpart Jaishankar



KATHMANDU: Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba is set to hold talks with Minister of External Affairs of India S. Jaishankar during the Raisina Dialogue, which begins on March 17 in New Delhi.

According to her secretariat, the meeting will take place on the sidelines of the event, where Minister Rana will also engage in bilateral discussions with counterparts from other friendly nations.

Rana arrived in New Delhi after visiting Baba Baidyanath Dham in Jharkhand for religious rituals.

She was welcomed at Indira Gandhi International Airport by Munu Mahawar, an Additional Secretary in India’s Ministry of External Affairs, and Nepal’s Ambassador to India, Dr. Shankar Sharma.

The conference, which runs from March 17 to 19, is organized by the Observer Research Foundation (ORF) in collaboration with India’s Ministry of External Affairs. During the conference, Rana will address two sessions on the state and challenges of climate change  and what South Asia wants.”

She is also scheduled to speak at the ‘Digital Public Infrastructure Conclave.’

Meanwhile, reports suggest that Nepal’s embassy in New Delhi is working to arrange a meeting between Rana and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, although no confirmation has been made.

However, it is confirmed that the two foreign ministers will meet, marking a significant diplomatic engagement after a considerable gap.
