President inspects under construction Parliament Building

KATHMANDU: President Ramchandra Paudel has inspected the federal parliament building which is being constructed in the Singha Durbar complex today.

He was welcomed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) Devraj Ghimire and Chairperson of the National Assembly Narayan Prasad Dahal at the construction site.

On that occasion, Secretary at the Ministry of Urban Development, Gopal Prasad Sigdel informed that the physical progress of the building is 84 percent while financial progress is 73.04 percent.

He said that work is underway aiming to hold the summer session of the Parliament in the new building.

An agreement has been made for the interior decoration of the building at the cost of Rs.2.34 billion.

So far, 25 percent of the building has been decorated. There are 1,351 rooms in the building where both houses of the federal parliament session will meet.

The total cost of the building is Rs 5.67 billion.
