Nepali Communist Party and Matrubhumi Jagaran Abhiyan sign seven-point unification agreement



KATHMANDU: The Nepali Communist Party (NCP) and the Matrubhumi Jagaran Abhiyan Nepal have signed a seven-point agreement paving the way for organizational unification.

The agreement, signed on Wednesday, aims to build a strong and dynamic party guided by patriotism and socialism. It was signed by NCP Coordinators Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Madhav Kumar Nepal, and Matrubhumi Jagaran Abhiyan Coordinator Dr. Bhim Rawal.

According to the agreement, both sides have pledged to safeguard Nepal’s national sovereignty, unity, independence, integrity, and self-respect, while promoting a politics and economy free from foreign interference.

The unified party will work toward economic and social transformation based on socialism and social justice. It has also decided to hold a national unity convention within six months, with the date and venue to be determined by the party secretariat.

As per the agreement, the organizational structures of the Matrubhumi Jagaran Abhiyan will be integrated into the Nepali Communist Party through mutual consensus. The two sides will jointly prepare the party statute, political report, and programs.

The agreement also states that the party’s operation will be guided by democratic norms and the principle of people’s centralism. To ensure effective implementation of the unification process, necessary task forces will be formed at different levels.
