90 percent of Bhojpur’s Sanodumma residents now connected to electricity

BHOJPUR: Nearly 90 percent of households in Sanodumma, Ward No. 5 of Pauwadung Rural Municipality in Bhojpur district, now have access to electricity from the national grid.

This milestone, achieved through the initiative of the local government, has brought light to one of the region’s most geographically remote areas.

Ward Chairman Bom Prasad Rai said the electrification campaign, which began from scratch, is nearing completion. “Only 11 houses in two settlements remain without electricity. Preparations are underway to connect them soon,” he stated.

Rai explained that delays in reaching some remote settlements were caused by shortages of electric poles and wires. However, efforts are ongoing to supply electricity to the remaining households and officially declare the ward a ‘fully electrified zone.’

The arrival of electricity has significantly improved daily life for locals who previously relied on traditional oil lamps (Tuki) and solar power. “Now the darkness is gone,” said local resident Harkaraj Rai.

“We can finally watch television and access the internet in our village.” He added that better access to information and communication will allow residents to stay connected with news and developments both at home and abroad.
