NHRC calls for resolution based on rule of law and human rights



KATHMANDU: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has called on all concerned to seek a resolution to the current crisis in accordance with the rule of law, human rights, and democratic values.

In a press release issued today, NHRC Spokesperson Dr. Tikaram Pokharel stated that it is crucial to find a way forward grounded in fundamental democratic principles and the rule of law.

“Amid the ongoing crisis, the NHRC is in communication with President Ramchandra Paudel. The Commission has expressed its view to the President that a solution should be sought based on the principles of human rights, democratic values, and the rule of law,” the statement reads.

The NHRC expressed confidence that the President will take appropriate and necessary steps to protect human rights, uphold democracy, and ensure peace and justice. The Commission also mentioned that it remains in ongoing contact with other relevant stakeholders regarding the current situation.
