Lawmakers tell govt to ensure fertilizer, seeds and irrigation for farmers



KATHMANDU: Members of the National Assembly have urged the government to address shortages of fertilizer, seeds, and irrigation facilities for farmers.

Speaking during zero hour at Tuesday’s meeting, they stressed the need to end the recurring hardships faced by farmers due to a lack of essential agricultural inputs.

Lawmakers Pooja Chaudhary, Renu Chand, and Bishnu Kumari Sapkota called on the government to ensure that farmers affected by drought, who were unable to plant crops on time, do not have to struggle to obtain fertilizer and seeds.

They also emphasized the importance of creating job opportunities for youth within the country, noting that agriculture remains a key source of employment.

The lawmakers urged the government to prioritize modern farming methods and commercial agriculture to boost productivity and livelihoods.
