Heavy rain expected in several provinces today



KATHMANDU: Monsoon winds continue to affect Nepal, with the low-pressure system (trough) positioned near its average location in the east and slightly northward in the west, according to the Weather Forecasting Division.

The weather is partly to generally cloudy across the country. Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely in hilly areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as at isolated locations elsewhere.

The Division has also forecast the possibility of heavy rainfall at one or two places in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces. Additionally, light to moderate rain or snowfall may occur in some high-hilly and mountainous regions.

Tonight, skies are expected to remain partly to generally cloudy nationwide. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely in parts of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and at isolated spots in the remaining provinces.

Heavy rain is also possible at one or two locations in Koshi, Madhesh, and Bagmati. Light snowfall is expected at isolated high-hill and mountainous areas.

The Division has advised the public to remain alert, especially in areas at risk of flooding or landslides.
