T20 International: Nepal lost to Namibia by 23 runs



KATHMANDU: Nepal lost to Namibia by 23 runs in the match played today under the Women’s Twenty20 International Cricket Tournament underway in Uganda.

In the match held at the Entebbe Cricket Oval, Nepal could only score 102 runs for the loss of 5 wickets while chasing the victory target of 126 runs set by Namibia.

For Nepal, Sana Praveen scored 31 runs while Kabita Kunwar scored 17 not out, and Pooja Mahato and captain Indu Verma scored 15 runs each.

For the bowling side, Evelyn Kejarukwa took 2 wickets, while Wilka Mwatil, Saima Tuhadelini and Mikeli Mwatil took one wicket each.

Earlier, batting first after losing the toss, Namibia scored 125 runs at the loss of 8 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.

For Namibia, Yasmin Khan scored 45, Wilka Mwatil scored 20, Arasta Diegergaard scored 16 not out, and Sune Wittman scored 15 runs.

Among the Nepali bowlers, Ishwari Bista took 3 wickets, Rachna Kumari Chaudhary scored two wickets, and Riya Sharma and Indu Verma each took one wicket each.

This is the third loss for Nepal in the four-nation tournament. Nepal had lost to the same team, Namibia by 6 wickets in its first meeting between the two sides in the tournament.

Similarly, Nepal lost to Hong Kong by 2 runs and defeated the home team Uganda by 1 wicket.

Nepal is scheduled to play its next match against the host, Uganda tomorrow.
