KATHMANDU: The district administration offices of all three districts in the Kathmandu Valley—Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur—have called on the public to celebrate the Holi festival in a dignified and civilized manner.

Anil Poudel, Assistant Chief District Officer of Kathmandu, urged everyone to celebrate the festival peacefully and with respect.

In a notice, he emphasized, “The Social Behaviour (Reform) Act and Regulations, 2033 BS, have set guidelines for the celebration of religious, social, and cultural festivals. Therefore, on this occasion of the festival of colors, we urge everyone to refrain from creating disturbances, engaging in public altercations, consuming alcohol, or disrupting family and social life, as well as public peace and dignity.”

He further stated, “Please avoid rowdy behavior, such as throwing colors or water-filled balloons, spraying water from pipes, smearing colors on others without consent, or running recklessly while playing Holi. Such actions can lead to accidents, and in some cases, even fatalities.”

The Holi festival will be celebrated in the hilly region on March 13 and in the Tarai region on March 14.
