KATHMANDU: The bail hearing for Rabi Lamichhane, the chair of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), will begin at 11 AM on Monday.

The statement-recording process in front of Judge Madhav Prasad Adhikari was completed on Sunday. Although the hearing was initially scheduled for Sunday, it was delayed due to time constraints.

According to Kathmandu District Court’s information officer Amar Bahadur Chand, the hearing will now begin on Monday.

“The hearing will start tomorrow, and there will be a discussion on how long it will take to conclude. The hearing has been scheduled for 11 AM,” said Chand. “Until the bail hearing is concluded, the police will be responsible for bringing Lamichhane in and out of custody.”

Lamichhane is currently under the custody of Kathmandu Police, following an investigation related to alleged embezzlement involving the Swarnalaxmi Multipurpose Cooperative.

Lamichhane was summoned to court after the Kathmandu District Police recommended charges against him and 38 others in connection with the case, where it is alleged that Rs 119.3 million of savings from 690 depositors went missing.

After being released from police custody in Kaski on Thursday, Lamichhane appeared in Kathmandu District Court on Sunday, requesting to be released into his family’s custody.

However, Judge Adhikari’s bench rejected the request, deciding that Lamichhane would remain in custody until the resolution of the case.
