Paddy production increases in Mahottari



JALESHWAR: Paddy production has increased in Mahottari district this year.

According to Manish Pal, chief of Agriculture Knowledge Centre Mahottari, 37,100 metric tonnes more rice has been produced in this year.

This year, 159 thousand 800 metric tonnes of rice has been produced in a total of 42 thousand five hundred hectares of land, which is 30.2 per cent more than last year.

Last year, 122,700 metric tonnes of rice was produced when it was cultivated on 39,870 hectares of land.

In Mahottari this year, paddy production has increased due to sufficient rains, seeds of advanced varieties, timely use fertilizers and agricultural technology, said Chief Pal.

He said that there has been a decrease in fine and fragrant rice (basmati, karikumod, tulsiphul) production.
