Actors, independent politicians, and former candidates join Kulman Ghising’s Ujyalo Nepal Party



KATHMANDU: Energy Minister Kulman Ghising has officially stepped into politics by updating the registration of the Ujyalo Nepal Party through his close aides.

According to the Election Commission’s assistant spokesperson, Prakash Neupane, the party previously led by Gyan Bahadur Tamang has been amended to appoint former secretary Anup Kumar Upadhyaya as coordinator. The proposal to make Upadhyaya the coordinator was put forward by Ghising himself.

The party has proposed a 51-member central committee, which includes former coordinator Tamang, identity activist Dr. Mahendra Lawati from Panchthar, Ilam-2 by-election candidate Dakendra Thegim, and Saraswati Limbu from Taplejung.

Independent MP from Sudurpaschim, Dr. Tara Prasad Joshi, and Sagar Dhakal, who ran against Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba, have also joined the party. Actress Reema Bishwokarma, known for her outspoken criticism of traditional parties, and Tasi Lhanjom from Humla, who was previously proposed as a minister by Gen-Z but faced controversy over alleged links with Tibetans, have also joined Ghising’s team.
