Gen-Z representatives call for participation in upcoming elections

KATHMANDU: Representatives of the Gen-Z movement have urged all political parties and groups to participate in the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5.

Speaking to journalists after discussions with Prime Minister Sushila Karki and Cabinet members at the President’s residence, Sheetal Niwas, the representatives emphasized the importance of utilizing the announced election, noting that without participation from established parliamentary parties, elections could not proceed.

Gen-Z representative Miraj Dhungana said, “Elections are a democratic process, through which representatives are chosen by the people. We want the elections to be free, fair, and impartial. All parties should participate—no one can stop them. If chosen by the people, you may become elected, and new forces can also emerge. Everyone should come and compete fairly.”

Dhungana also stressed that those who contributed to advancing street movements should be included in the current Cabinet.

On Friday, following President Ram Chandra Poudel’s call, leaders of parties represented in the previous parliament and the government discussed the upcoming election. During the discussion, political parties emphasized the need for a safe and secure environment for the polls, while the government urged all parties to take part in the election.
